My research interests are focused on the impact of endocrine disruptors, chemicals that interfere with natural hormones, on the female reproductive system. Using in vivo (rat) and in vitro (primary culture of immature rat granulosa cells, human nonluteinized granulosa cell line) models, I am trying to evaluate the effects of different endocrine disruptors on the ovulation and production of female reproductive hormones (estradiol, progesterone) and also to define their mechanisms of action at the level of signaling events in the cells. This kind of approach leads to better understanding the consequences of human exposure to endocrine disruptors.
