Research interest:
My research interest is in the area of developmental and reproductive toxicology, investigating the impact of endocrine disrupting compounds on development and function of gonads, gonadal steroidogenic cells (granulosa and Leydig cells) and germ cells. My current research focuses on the impact of embryonic and early development ED exposure on the formation and functioning of gonads in adults, covering the concept of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) by which many diseases that appear in the adulthood have the origin in embryonic exposure to the unfavorable conditions. For this research we use zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model, as it has external fertilization and produce large amount of transparent embryos, enabling easy manipulations and observation of all stages of embryogenesis.
